Vista's Weight Management Options is the place for complete medical weight management in the Northern Illinois and the Lake County area. Staffed by credentialed health professionals whose passion is to help people manage their weight safely and effectively, Vista’s Weight Management Options provides comprehensive, non-surgical, weight loss programs that address the medical, nutritional, behavioral and emotional changes necessary to attain significant and long lasting success.

Vista’s Non-Surgical Program utilizes a time-tested, well-documented protocol of medically supervised weight loss designed for patients with a BMI over 30 or over 27 with existing comorbidities. Calculate your BMI.

Health benefits typically include a reduction in comorbid conditions, including lower blood pressure, lower blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetics, lower serum cholesterol, and reduced pain in weight-bearing joints.

Program participants may utilize a variety of specially formulated nutritional supplements to replace grocery food intake for several weeks or months depending on each person’s goals. Supplements provide high quality protein with vitamins and minerals to support healthy metabolism and lean muscle mass during weight loss.

Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD)

A Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) program is a medically supervised, ketogenic weight loss program for patients who are moderately to morbidly obese. Candidates for the program have a BMI over 30 or over 27 with comorbidities, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and high cholesterol. In general, a VLCD is appropriate for women approximately 40 pounds or more overweight and men approximately 50 pounds or more overweight. Patients experience weight loss of 3-5 lbs per week. Meal replacements are utilized as the sole source of nutrition during active weight loss.

Low Calorie Diet (LCD)

A Low Calorie Diet (LCD) program is a non-ketogenic program for individuals with less than 40 pounds to lose or for those who are unable to commit to a VLCD program. It is medically supervised or clinician directed. Patients experience weight loss of 2-3 lbs per week. A LCD incorporates grocery foods with meal replacement products or protein supplements.

Weight Management Classes

Group classes are taught by registered dietitians, exercise physiologist, and clinical psychologist and are necessary to reinforce lasting lifestyle changes.

Weight Loss Medications

FDA weight loss medications are useful for modest weight loss when combined with proper nutrition, exercise, and behavioral modification because relying on weight loss medications alone is not enough. Weight loss medications may be prescribed as part of any of Vista’s Weight Management Options Programs, as long as it is medically necessary as determined by the physician.
